Monika Małachowska tworzy dwa cykle obrazów malowanych na bawełnie. Łączy je spokojna kolorystyka, delikatna materia i sposób malowania, który zostawia miejsce na własne odczucia.
W jednym z cykli pojawia się ludzka sylwetka. Nie jest pokazana dosłownie ani portretowo — artystkę interesuje raczej kształt, gest, fragment ciała, ślad obecności. Postacie są uproszczone, jakby zawieszone między figuracją a abstrakcją. Dzięki temu obrazy nie opowiadają jednej konkretnej historii, ale budują nastrój skupienia, ciszy i zatrzymania.
Drugi cykl jest bardziej abstrakcyjny. Formy przypominają ślady, odbicia, mapy albo fragmenty powierzchni. Ważna jest tu sama bawełna — jej struktura, miękkość i naturalność. Farba nie zakrywa jej całkowicie, tylko wnika w materiał, zostawia prześwity, smugi i delikatne napięcia. Dzięki temu obrazy są lekkie, ciche i bardzo materialne.

Nie są to obrazy, które mają zdominować pokój. One raczej wprowadzają ciszę, miękkość i osobisty charakter. Dobrze pasują do sypialni, gabinetu, salonu, miejsca do pracy albo odpoczynku. Są dla kogoś, kto lubi rzeczy subtelne, trochę niedopowiedziane i nieoczywiste.
To dobry wybór dla osób, które szukają sztuki spokojnej, ale nie banalnej. Dekoracyjnej, ale nie w sensie „ładnego obrazka pod kanapę". Bardziej obecności niż ozdoby — czegoś, do czego można wracać wzrokiem i za każdym razem zobaczyć trochę inaczej.
Monika Małachowska works in two series of paintings made on cotton. They share a quiet palette, a delicate materiality, and a way of painting that leaves room for one's own feelings.
In one series a human figure appears. It is never shown literally or as a portrait — the artist is interested instead in shape, gesture, a fragment of the body, a trace of presence. The figures are simplified, suspended between figuration and abstraction. As a result the paintings do not tell one particular story, but build a mood of focus, silence and pause.
The second series is more abstract. The forms resemble traces, reflections, maps or fragments of a surface. Here the cotton itself matters — its structure, softness and naturalness. The paint does not cover it completely but soaks into the material, leaving openings, streaks and delicate tensions. This makes the paintings light, quiet and very material.
This painting suits those who do not want anything loud on the wall. If you like calm interiors, natural materials, bright walls, linen, wood, stone, ceramics, or simply a space in which to breathe — these works will feel at home there.
These are not paintings meant to dominate a room. Rather, they bring quiet, softness and a personal character. They sit well in a bedroom, a study, a living room, a place to work or to rest. They are for someone who likes things that are subtle, a little understated and not obvious.
It is a good choice for those looking for art that is calm but not banal. Decorative, but not in the sense of "a pretty picture above the sofa". More presence than ornament — something the eye can return to and see a little differently each time.

Obrazy Moniki Małachowskiej badają granicę między obecnością a nieobecnością — ciało jako ślad, faktura jako pamięć. Monika Małachowska's paintings explore the boundary between presence and absence — the body as a trace, texture as memory.
Monika Małachowska urodziła się w 1987 roku w Warszawie. Ukończyła Akademię Sztuk Pięknych im. Eugeniusza Gepperta we Wrocławiu na kierunku malarstwo, w pracowni prof. Aleksandra Dymitrowicza (2016).
W swojej twórczości powraca do dwóch równoległych języków. Cykl aktów męskich wyrasta z fascynacji dynamiką linii sylwetki — ciało staje się tu pretekstem do badania napięcia między formą a przestrzenią, między obecnością a znikaniem. Cykl Mapy, zainspirowany podróżą do Australii, przenosi to myślenie w rejon abstrakcji: zestawienia konturów, struktur i barw przekształca w prace w technikach wapiennych i żywicznych, gdzie materia obrazu staje się równie ważna jak jego temat.
Wystawiała indywidualnie i zbiorowo w Polsce, m.in. w Domu Kultury Ochoty w Warszawie (2013), MOKiS w Oleśnicy (2015) oraz w Browarze Mieszczańskim we Wrocławiu (2015).
Monika Małachowska was born in 1987 in Warsaw. She graduated from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław with a degree in painting, in the studio of Prof. Aleksander Dymitrowicz (2016).
Her practice returns to two parallel languages. The series of male nudes grows from a fascination with the dynamics of the silhouette — the body becomes a pretext for examining the tension between form and space, between presence and disappearance. The Maps series, inspired by a journey to Australia, shifts this thinking toward abstraction: juxtapositions of contours, structures and colour transformed into works in lime and resin techniques, where the matter of the painting becomes as important as its subject.
She has exhibited individually and collectively in Poland, including at the Ochota House of Culture in Warsaw (2013), MOKiS in Oleśnica (2015) and the Browar Mieszczański in Wrocław (2015).
